How to Pluck Your Foam - Securing Your Valuables in a Gun Case

So you have your brand new T Case in hand!  Now what?  You have to decide what you're going to keep safe with it!  We've compiled this guide of tips, tricks and steps to take to make sure you get the most out of your T Case!

Let's Start with the "Do's"

Identity the foam you want to pluck.  Each T Case has an eggshell foam lining on the top and bottom, and most have 1-2 layers of pre-cut cubed foam – this is the foam you’ll want to adjust.
Arrange the items you wish to store on top of the layer of foam, making sure to leave space around each item.  For best results, leave the row around the outside edges intact.
Toothpicks or similar items can be used as a guide – create an outline of your items with toothpicks in the corners of the foam cubes, then carefully remove the plug.  Save extra foam plugs to adjust the size of your negative space.  Extra foam is always available here if you need it!

And Now for the "Don'ts"

Resist the temptation to pluck out more foam than is absolutely necessary!  Remember that the foam will condense once glass is pushed against it, and this is exactly what you want to happen.  Leaving a little extra foam ensures a snug fit; the very last thing you want is any movement inside the case.
The second, and very important "don't," is DON'T overstuff your case!  Our goal is to keep your valuables protected and a solid layer of foam surrounding them is part of the magic.  Take careful measurements of your pipe before you select a case for it - all our cases list both the interior and exterior measurements for this reason - and make sure there will be at the very least an inch of interior space around your piece.

Expert Layering Tips

With the exception of our 5" and 7" cases, every T Case comes with two layers of foam.  This can be great for odd shaped headies or large beaker bases - you can pluck one layer for the base and the second layer to fit over it to create a shell that further secures the piece.
Alternatively if you have several smaller pieces, you can stack them alternating between layers of foam.

I never knew that foam condenses once the glass is pushed on it. Last week I purchased a new handgun and I need to get a case for it that has foam protection. I’ll have to look for ones that have more foam to keep my gun safe and in good condition. https://www.aerpak.com/foam-inserts.html
